Obituary of Susan Clare Bullard
BULLARD, Susan Clare (née Cox)
Her long and courageous battle with primary progressive multiple sclerosis is over. Susan Bullard of North Bay died peacefully at Eastholme on Monday, August 9th, 2021, at the age of 81. She was born on May 10, 1940 in East York.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Gertrude Cox; her sister, Verena Lougheed; and her parents-in-law, John and Winifred Bullard.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Laurence “Larry” Bullard; their children John, James and Greg (Karen); her grandchildren Ryan John Neil and Alison Verena; her sister Joan Cox; her beloved niece Kelly Swales and family; her brother-in-law Derek (Jean) and family; and by her dear friend Karen Wickett and family.
Sue loved all sports. With her family, she was a North Bay Junior A hockey subscriber for forty-four years. Sue excelled at bowling, winning many awards. In 1978 she coached North Bay’s YBC Junior Girls’ team to a Northern Ontario championship gold medal and a silver medal at the National championships.
But Sue’s first love was always her family. She was a wonderful wife, a selfless mom and grandma, and a fabulous cook of family dinners.
Sue will be remembered as the beautiful lady, true and loyal friend, and fun-loving girl that she was. Her exemplary work ethic, abiding strength and sharp sense of humour were appreciated by all who knew her. Her kindness, generosity and integrity will be deeply missed.
Our sincere thanks to the devoted staff at Eastholme who lovingly cared for Sue for two years; our family physician, Dr. Ian Cowan; and Dr. Derek Ng.
Cremation has taken place and, as per Sue’s wishes, there will be no service. A private family gathering will be held at a later time.
If you wish to honour Sue’s memory, donations to the MS Society (for research) would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made at mssociety.ca or by cheque made out to MS Society of Canada and sent to Martyn Funeral Home, 464 Wyld St., North Bay, ON, P1B 1Z5.
