 Colombe Ranger Burritt  1917-2021

After having lived a full life and served as an inspiration to so many, has gone to meet her Creator. On this eighteenth day of June 2021 at the age of 104, she leaves us with an array of beautiful memories, examples of perseverance, determination, respect and aspirations.

She will be deeply missed by her children Alice (Doug Martin deceased), Edgar (Aline Lapalme), Diane (Raymond Colbourne) Michael (Judi Cotnam), her sister Maria (Edgar Rochon deceased) and many nieces, nephews, grand-children, great grand-children, and great-great-grand –children.

Colombe was predeceased by her husband Clifford Burritt, their precious son Glen, her father Zephir Ranger, her mother Alice Marcotte, and her siblings: Raoul, Jules, Claraine, Luc, Lucien, Guy, Abel, Albert, André and Conrad.

Born in Cameron Township in 1917, she lost her mother at the age of ten.  Hard work and long days became a way of life for her and for the rest of the family.

She later met and married Clifford Burritt. They raised their family in the house they built on top of the hill known as Rochon’s Hill and thus provided a comfortable happy home for themselves and for their children. In the longevity of her life she witnessed tremendous changes and always adapted well to them and by her continuous optimism and devotion, she served as a model to everyone who knew her.

She loved life, especially her family and extended family who returned all the love and affection they received from her. She also cherished her many friends throughout her life.

Colombe was known for her participation at the Golden Age craft shows. She also volunteered many years at the Mattawa Nursing Home and was a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League. Her strong faith served her well.

Finally, she always appreciated the help she received during her life, especially these last years at the Algonquin Nursing Home where she was happy and well taken care of by the wonderful staff. Sincere thanks to all her friends, the working members of the Algonquin Nursing Home, Dr.Wilkins, Sister Ginette, Rev.Scott and Rev. Moyle.

Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date when family and friends can gather safely. She will be missed by many!  if desired, donations to the Algonquin Nursing Home or St. Anne's Parish would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
