I will always be grateful that I was one of the new friends Betty made in her 80s. I only wish it had been earlier because she was so engaging and full of love. It truly shone from her. To Dennis, Bradley, Bernie, Kelly and Patrick, you have my heartfelt condolences. I am so glad you were together with her to see her on her way. To all of your families, and to everyone in Betty's family, may her grace and memory be a blessing. She was a giant. She will be missed.

My condolences to you all and your families.
Lots of wonderful memories of your Mom, with many Purdon's in attendance. She could easily match comedic barbs with the 7 Purdon boys...I was lucky enough to run into her on a weekend home last year. She looked awesome and still had her wonderful sense of humor. RIP Betty..

My condolences to the extended family. I had the pleasure of working with Betty in the 90s as founding directors of the Local Training & Adjustment Board for Nipissing-Parry Sound.
It was a remarkable experience watching Betty in action, at a table with 23 directors representing stakeholders from diverse sectors (business; labour; federal, provincial/territorial, & municipal gov't, equality-seeking groups: women, visible minorities & Aboriginals, Persons with Disabilities, Francophones; and private & public education) using a consensus decision-making model.
Sure am glad our interests were always aligned. She was truly the most passionate & effective advocate I've ever met.
I will treasure our last encounter at the Christmas concert to benefit the Nipissing Serenity Hospice held at SJSH in Nov 2017.
Rest in Power beautiful Betty!

So sorry to hear of the passing of your mother/grandmother/great grandmother! What a wonderful legacy she has left behind. I served on the OSSTA ( as it was then known ) Board of Directors with Betty. I admired her many strong qualities as a leader, a Catholic, her friendly nature and great confidence. In short I considered her a mentor. She often spoke, with great pride, of her sons and their families. May God bless and receive her and may He also bless all her family. Our prayers and condolences, Mary Hendriks ( & Rick too )

I am so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing, she was gone from the Board when I came on but she was a wonderful support to us years ago, as parents of children in the system. She was very caring but very straight forward and I will never forget her. Praying for Betty and her Family at this most difficult time.
