Obituary of Ronald James Ackroyd
Ackroyd, Ronald James
It is with heavy hearts that the Ackroyd family announces the sudden passing of Ron on Friday, June 19, 2020 in his home. He was 73 years old. He was married for the past 53 years to his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth “Betty” Ackroyd (nee McConkey). Cherished father of Kimberly and Ronnie, both of Gibsons, B.C. Proud grandfather of Isaac.
Sadly missed by his siblings, Arlene Dool (Ron), St. Thomas, Ont. and Roslyn Lima, of Bermuda. Predeceased by his parents Raymond & Lenna (nee Proctor) Ackroyd and brother Alan (Shelley).
Ron had a distinguished 27 year career as a banker. He was an avid chef and enjoyed creating amazing dishes for friends and family. His BBQ skills were unprecedented. Ron was always there as a support for anyone who needed help. Dogs gravitated to him, whether pets or strays to receive a good back rub. His quick wit and sense of humour will be missed by everyone.
Respecting Rons’ wishes cremation will take place and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired, donation to charity of choice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
