Obituary of James Burton Hawke

Jim Hawke passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Thursday April 23, 2020 after a sudden brief illness, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Diane Hawke (Arsenault) and son of the late James Burton & Muriel Hawke. Loving father of Aileen Hawke (spouse Ronald Dutton), Nancy Hawke (spouse Richard McMartin), Shelley Hawke (spouse Brad Norman) and Jeff Hawke (spouse Stephanie). Proud grandpa of Julian & Ben Dutton, Sarah & Carlos McMartin, Brooklyn & Hunter Norman, and Cairah & Athen Hawke. Dear brother of Marion Matthews (spouse Robert) and Brian Hawke. He will be fondly remembered by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was born and raised in Owen Sound. He started his career as a surveyor in Cochrane with the MTO, moving with promotions to Haileybury, then Kenora, and lastly settled in North Bay as an Engineering Office Supervisor prior to retiring in 1993. With a generous heart and friendly nature, Jim’s door was always open. He treasured his family and friends, hosting many BBQ’s and fish frys. Jim loved the great outdoors, fishing, sing-alongs with his ukulele, and spontaneous trips with Diane. The many projects created in his workshop will always be cherished. Jim will be dearly missed. Due to the social gathering restrictions at this time, a celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
