Obituary of Brenda Mary Smith
Smith, Brenda Mary (nee Horrocks)
It is with great sadness that the Smith family announces the passing of Brenda Mary Smith, on Monday, November 18th, 2019, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, in her 73rd year. Brenda was deeply loved by all and devoted to her family. She will be deeply missed by Arthur, her husband of 53 glorious years, daughter Jayne (Eric), son Jason (Trina), son Jonathan (Christine), grandchildren, Amanda, Madalyn, Nate, Chyler, Trent, Reed and her beloved four-legged companion Chloe. Brenda is predeceased by her parents Fred Horrocks and Evelyn Marginson and is survived by her brothers Brian, Bernard and Alan. Brenda was an avid horseback rider, animal lover, crafter and traveller. After retirement Brenda and Arthur sold their house, packed up their belongings and travelled North America in their RV. For the past 15 years, they travelled to every corner of the continent visiting their many family members and friends and making new friends along the way. Brenda was diagnosed with ALS in the fall and she made the courageous decision to donate her organs to Trillium’s Gift of Life. Trillium is a non-profit agency of the Government of Ontario which plans, promotes, coordinates and supports the donation of organs and tissues for transplantation. Brenda and her family wish to extend their sincere thanks to the following heroes for their compassionate and loving care. Dr. Abeysinghe, Dr. Leckie, Dr. Foell (Huntsville), Dr. Abraheo (Sunnybrook Hospital), the PSW and nursing staff on level 3 at NBRHC, the PSW and VON Staff in North Bay including the LHIN of North Bay, the paramedics in Toronto and North Bay, Venerable Marie Loewen and Reverend Beth Hewson for the loving and gentle care of Brenda throughout the last year. Friends and family are encouraged to join the celebration of Brenda’s life at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS Society of Canada) or North Bay Humane Society.
