Kathryn and Ivan, Mac and I are so sorry to hear about Hugh. Mac really admired your dad, Kathryn. He did so much for so many kids in sports. We would have come up to support you both, but did not hear about his passing until the celebration of life was over. Thinking of you in the days ahead as you deal with living without your dad. Hugs to you both.

Susan and I are very sorry to miss this final day with Hugh. Unfortunately due to a personal miscalculation we visted North Bay a week earlier and cannot do the 23rd.
I played football at Bishop's from 1954 to 1956 and Hugh was a great leader and quarterback on those winning years. In the later years we bumped into each other periodically, mostly at Bishop's reunions.
Our deepest apologies to Susan and the family.

Please accept our condolences for the loss of Hugh: A man of fiercely competitive though generous spirit; a man of integrity and thoughtfulness - may he be a role model for others to follow. We miss him too.

Hugh certainly was such a positive influence on many students, excelled in his teaching capabilities, gave much of his time to volunteer - whether at sporting events or helping pets get rescued and, of course, his love and care of family and all he achieved in his lifetime and as mentioned in his obituary... well it’s hard to know how he accomplished all this as well as many other things in one lifetime! As has been said, a gentleman at all times, polite and pleasant. Although we had not seen him since his retirement get together at which we met his children and grandchildren, we heard news of his recent battles with illness through our good friend: Geri, we look back on the times we got together with you and Hugh, at the cottage and before - always a happy, fun time (even though Lucy made it clear she did not like Hugh’s summer hat!)
Geri, Ruth and Jeff and children, Susan and Kathryn and children: please accept our heartfelt and sincere condolences
RIP Hugh

I was very fortunate to have had Hugh as a boss at Pinewood Golf in the early 60's as well as being on one of his championship football teams (NOSSA '64). He was an inspiration then with his dedication and compassion towards the game and his players. I learnt a lot from him as a human being and carried many of his lessons with me thru life. A gentleman indeed. To his family, I extend my thoughts an prayers, Rest in peace Coach.
