ROSS- Eugene Leland “Len”
1944 – 2019
Long time North Bay resident, Len Ross, died unexpectedly at the North Bay Regional Health Center on Saturday June 22, 2019, while in his 75th year. For the past 52 years he has been the devoted and loving husband of Karen (nee Samells). The proud and loving father of Joanne Iskander (Sam) of Hamilton and David of North Bay he will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Shelley MacLean of Trenton, N.S., and his brother-in-law Barry Samells (Valorie) of Ridgeway, Ontario. He was predeceased by his sister Lynda Chisholm (Alex) of Nova Scotia.
Len came to North Bay in 1963 as a member of the RCAF serving in the military police. He left the air force to become a constable with the OPP, then in 1967 joined the North Bay City Police. He retired from policing in the late 1980’s. Len had many interests from martial arts to a life long love of movies. An avid motorcyclist, he patrolled by motorcycle with the City Police, and continued riding after retiring. He was a gifted guitarist and writer and contributed to several publications, occasionally the Nugget. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Respecting his wishes his body has been cremated. No formal services will be held. If you’d like to honour his memory with a memorial donation please contribute to a charity of your choice.
