Obituary of Keera Dawn Daniel
Daniel, Keera
Tragically, the cancer could not be stopped and Keera passed away at the age of 17, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 10th, 2019. Keera has had a long and courageous battle with cancer over the last year. She was diagnosed with a bone tumour in February 2018 after she started experiencing pain in her left knee in December. She was flown to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa where a biopsy confirmed it was cancer. She was immediately placed on chemotherapy, but the cancer had travelled too far up her leg. Keera’s leg was amputated, and she resumed chemotherapy while being fitted with a prosthetic leg. She returned to Ottawa for post-treatment scans in October when doctors discovered the cancer had spread to her lungs. Two tumours were removed on Halloween. Still not feeling well by December Keera was back in Ottawa to find out the cancer was back in her lungs and was inoperable, she was told she was palliative. She returned to her happy place at home to be close to loved ones and friends for her final days. She leaves behind her beloved parents Kerri Stiller (Gord) and Donovan Daniel (Jeannie Marshall) all of North Bay. Cherished sister of Devin Daniel, Broden Daniel-Meunier, Izzy Daniel, step-sister of Ariella Stiller (fiancé Chris), Alexus Stiller, Angela Brand and Emma Jennings. Loved granddaughter of the late Garry & Heather Racicot, Thomas & Mary Anna Daniel and step-granddaughter of Sundae McQuillan. Keera will be sadly missed by Michelle Meunier , many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and above all her friends. She touched the lives of so many; our beloved, shining, happy girl, the light of our lives and the star of our hearts and leaves us smiling through our tears. Family will receive friends at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 14th, 2019 at Bethel Gospel Chapel 781 Tackaberry Drive North Bay, ON at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery following the service. If desired, donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Ottawa, Ontario would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences at www.martynfh.com
