Obituary of Dale Cleveland Neily
Neily, Dale Cleveland March 1, 1933 – October 9, 2018
On Tuesday October 9th Dale went home to his heavenly Father. He will be so deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Geraldine (nee Percival) and his 4 daughters Leeann (William) Whitney, Colleen Scanlan, Kathleen Dempsey-Glegloff and Christine Neily. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Olive Neily, a brother, Lemuel, and two sisters, Iris (John) Stewart and Ona Neily. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Caroline Duquette, James Scanlan, Krista Whitney, Michael Whitney, Daniel Glegloff, Krista Kardash, Mitchell Dempsey, Kevin Glegloff, Connor Dempsey, Jennifer Andersen, and Chad Butler and 11 great-grandchildren: Jonas, Liam, Oliver, Rosie, Halle, Neve, Olivia, Carter, Eleanor, Diana, and Sophie. Not to be missed are his countless nieces, nephews and cousins and, of course his friends-who-are-like-family; far too numerous to name. Taking care of his friends and family was always Dale’s number one concern. Dale was a Mason and Shriner. He was a strong leader in the North Bay community, was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman and lived in North Bay his entire life. Dale graduated from Ryerson in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 1956. Early in his business career, Dale was active in the tourism industry both locally and provincially. He was president of Resorts Ontario from 1973-1974 and represented the tourism industry across Ontario and worldwide. He then went on to have a successful Real Estate business. He was a founding member of Habitat for Humanity in North Bay and was happiest when he had a tool belt strapped to his waist. A faithful member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Dale was active in the men’s Summer Work camps building ramps for people with physical challenges. Dale was an exceptional father, a loyal friend and man of his word. So many people showed such kindness to Dale throughout his illness. The family would like to especially thank the VON nurses, Dr. J. Carter and Dr. M. Leckie for their constant loving care. A visitation will be held at Martyn’s Funeral Home (464 Wyld St, North Bay) on Thursday, October 11th 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, and a funeral service and reception will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church (401 1st Ave W, North Bay) on Friday, October 12th 2018 at 11am to celebrate Dale’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Nipissing Serenity Hospice at https://nipissingserenityhospice.ca/; The Gathering Place http://thegatheringplacenorthbay.ca/; or a charity of your choice.
