Obituary of Francoise "Fran" Marie Shannon

SHANNON – Fran (nee Gauthier)

The Shannon family sadly announces Fran’s unexpected death on Sunday August 12, 2018. Fran died peacefully at the Empire Living Center, North Bay, at the age of 83.  She was predeceased by her beloved and devoted husband Patrick “Pat” Shannon, who predeceased her in 1991. They met in Cobalt when Pat was posted there with the OPP.  The dearly loved mother of Lorrie Cameron (Charlie) of St. Mary’s, Mark (Denise) of North Bay, Mary and Gerry Roy of Collingwood, Michelle Shannon (Joe) of Collingwood, and Lynn who predeceased her in 1984.  She held a special place in the hearts of her family and many friends and will be forever remembered by her grandchildren Shannon, Kurtis, Megan and Connor Lawes, and their father Davie Lawes, and Jordan and Patrick Shannon.   She was predeceased by all of her siblings, Mercedes “Maisie” Montgomery, Ernestine Gabbani and Lionel Gauthier. The Shannon’s had a great love for Mattawa and were long time residents there. Fran taught with the French Catholic School Board in Mattawa for several years   A devoted catholic she was a dedicated member of

 St. Anne’s Parish in Mattawa, then Holy Name Parish when she moved to North Bay, as well as the CWL.  Friends may call at Martyn Funeral Home, 464 Wyld Street, North Bay, on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, then on Tuesday evening at the Martyn & Sloan “Mattawa Chapel”, 530 McConnell Street, Mattawa from 7:00 – 9:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Anne’s Church, Mattawa, at 11:00am Wednesday August 15, 2018.  Interment to follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery.  The Shannon family offer their heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Empire Living Center for the wonderful care given to Fran during her time there.  If you would like to honor Fran’s memory with a memorial donation please consider the Mattawa Hospital’s “A Place Called Home Campaign.  Online condolences may be offered at www.martynfh.com.
