Obituary of Virginia Curry
It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of our beloved sister Ginny. She was surrounded by her family & friends on Tuesday July 14, 2026, at Northern Heights Community-Emerald Lane, North Bay, Ontario.
Ginny was born in North Bay, August 28, 1953. She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and June Curry (nee Mitchell).
Ginny will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Candis Mirtl, Patricia Devereux (Kerry) of North Bay, Tom Curry (Lori Monteith) of Toronto and Nancy Edwards (Paul) of Carmel, Indiana.
She was the much-loved Aunt to Michael Mirtl (Melissa), Jason Mirtl (Heather), Rachael Devereux (Tom Tsipas), Ian Curry (Julia), Kate Curry (George Sorg-Langhans), Alex Curry and Sydney Edwards.
Great Aunt to Cody Mirtl (Emi Fugere-Shimazu), Breanna Mirtl, Steven Cheves and James Curry.
Great Great Aunt to Iris June Mirtl.
Ginny moved to Toronto after graduating from West Ferris Secondary School. She had a 25-year career working for Bristol Meyers/Colgate Palmolive and later held positions as a pharmacy assistant and PSW. In 2024, she returned home to North Bay.
Her unique sense of humour, sharp wit and superb memory served her well through some challenging health setbacks. She loved reading and watching classic television. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays and The Michigan Wolverines. Ginny was a faithful fan of the WWE throughout her life.
We would like to acknowledge and thank the many caregivers and staff at Water’s Edge/Northern Heights who gave her endless love, support and friendship. She received excellent medical care during her stay. Ginny considered her caregivers a 2nd family. She had many cherished friendships with residents, especially Mafalda Cerilli who watched over her.
