Obituary of Dick Edworthy
Edworthy, Richard “Dick”
It is with deep love and sorrow that the family of Richard “Dick” Edworthy announce his peaceful passing at the age of 94 on July 7th, 2026.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan, whom he cherished deeply and missed every day since her passing.
Dick will be missed by his family, Greg and Monique, Tony and Nicole, Richard and Shelley and Tamra who will carry forward his values of perseverance, curiosity, and compassion. He was also blessed with loving grandchildren (Scott, Chris, Sage, Tyson, Casey, Blair and Jenna) who enjoyed their grandfather’s stories and humour. He liked to share his appreciation of the outdoors and his extensive mechanical knowledge. Joan and Dick also took pleasure from their many great-grandchildren.
He was a loved by his brother Walter and predeceased by his sister Marion.
A tool and die maker/machinist for much of his life, Dick didn’t just work with metal- he worked with purpose. His shop was a place where neighbours stopped in not only to have something repaired, but to share a coffee, a laugh, or a bit of news. If something was broken, mechanical or otherwise, he was the one you called.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff with the Inpatient Surgical Unit of the North Bay Regional Health Centre, who cared for Dad with such compassion. Your kindness, patience, and dedication meant more to us than words can express.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his capable hands, and his warm heart. His family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with Joan.
A Visitation for Dick will be held at Martyn Funeral Home (464 Wyld St, North Bay) on Monday, July 13th, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service will follow in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 pm.
