Kornacki, Walter (Voldek)
September 8, 1950 – December 31, 2025
Walter Kornacki of Astorville, ON passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, with family by his side.
Born in Warsaw, Poland, Walter came to Canada at the age of 10 and grew up in Toronto. He later graduated from Centennial College with his mechanics licence and built a career marked by skill, integrity, and service.
Walter married the love of his life, Suzanne Boucher, on March 8, 1975. Their 50-year marriage was filled with devotion, laughter, road trips, and a shared appreciation for life’s simple joys. Together they raised their daughters Terry, and twins Melanie and Julie, first in Mississauga and later in North Bay, where they made their home.
Shortly after moving to North Bay, Walter began a long and dedicated career with the City of North Bay, serving the community as a city bus driver and a mechanic. He was deeply committed to fair labour practices and dedicated many years to CUPE, including serving as president and continuing work in labour mediation.
Walter had a lifelong love of mechanics, technology, and woodworking. In his later years, he returned to wood turning, creating cherished gifts for family and friends from his Love Shack Woodshop.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife Suzanne; daughters Terry (Greg Smith), Melanie (Mike Thompson), and Julie (Stephen Jeffery); grandchildren Kristopher, Nikolas, Elizabeth, Norah, Margaret, Edward, and Zigmunt; his brother John Kornacki, nephews Peter and Christopher, niece Andrea, and stepmother Antonia Kornacki (Schiavone).
